K9 Jerry Retires…..

Monday, June 01 2009

In March 2007 I was selected to be a K9 Handler and was assigned K9 Jerry as my new partner.  Jerry’s previous handler decided to move on from the K9 Unit.  I had already worked with the K9 Unit as a decoy/agitator, and was already familiar with Jerry.  Jerry was a very high drive, energetic dog.  Weighing in at over 100 pounds, Jerry was a lot of dog to handle.  Jerry immediately became a part of the family and enjoyed playing ball in the backyard.  Jerry also enjoyed playing with my daughter and our one year old Scottish Terrier puppy (Tink).

Thank you to everyone who came out to BJ's Restaurant to support the K9 Association.  Thank you to the management and staff of BJ's Restaurant for all of their hard work.  The event was very successful. The donated monies went directly to the K9 Association to cover the costs of medical treatments for our three retired canine partners.  We hope to make this an annual event.

Folsom Police K9 Association Fundraiser at BJ’s Restaurant.

Tuesday, May 05 2009

The Folsom Police Canine Officer’s Association will be holding a fundraiser at BJ’s Restaurant (2730 East Bidwell Street, Folsom) on Monday May 18th from 4:00 PM to 10:00 PM.  In 2009 the Folsom Police Department has retired three canines due to various health issues.  Because we respect and care for our canine partners, we are dedicated to supporting them throughout their career and retirement. The Folsom Police Canine Officer’s Association (a non-profit, public charity) was established to assist in the medical expenses for retired canines.

Please come have a great meal and support our canine partners who have given so much to the Folsom Police Department and the community.

Please click on and print the attached flyer (flyer must be presented to your server).

Thank you again for all of your support.
