Officers responded and set up a perimeter around the two story house. K9 Ramon was sent into the two story house to search for the suspect. K9 Ramon checked the first floor and was checking the second floor when he alerted on a locked bedroom door. No response was heard from inside of the bedroom after giving a warning. The bedroom door was forced open and K9 Ramon located the male suspect hiding in the bathtub/shower in an adjacent bathroom. The male suspect was taken into custody.
Wolf Hunt For A Cure Radiothon
Saturday, May 01 2010
On 03-19-10 the Folsom Police K9 Unit joined with the Wolf 101.9 Pure Country radio station at the UC Davis Children's Hospital for their "Wolf Hunt For A Cure Radiothon." The Wolf and the Children's Miracle Network have teamed up to generate funds and awareness programs for the benefit of member hospitals and foundations. The UC Davis Children's Hospital treats children with severe, life threatening illnesses, including children with cancer, children who have suffered severe traumatic injuries, and children who require surgery to correct congenital anomalies. Currently the hospital has inadequate facilities to serve all of the children needing pediatric care.
The Folsom K9 Unit has already built a strong relationship with the UC Davis Children's Hospital, where once a month at least one member from the Folsom Police K9 Unit visits the hospital with there K9 partner. The K9 Officers also give the children a stuffed German Shepherd toy during their visits (the stuffed toys are purchased with funds from the Folsom Police Canine Officer's Association).

Thursday, September 17 2009
With the excellent training provided by Gregg Tawney with Norcaldogs (www.norcaldogs.com), canines Ramon and Paska completed a 120 hour course and passed narcotic detector certification. The canines use their keen sense of smell to discriminate between odors. It is estimated that a dogs sense of smell in between one thousand and one million times greater than humans. This is what makes our canine partners such great tools when searching for narcotics.Page 1 of 6
